United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop and nurture fellowship, and to learn about and support mission projects in the community and around the world.
Any woman may become a member, including women of other denominations. Members must be willing to support the purpose of the organization.
The society is organized into small groups called circles that meet monthly, either at the church or in a member's home. The circle is an excellent way for a new member to become involved and acquainted with other women of the church. The group meets as a whole at general meetings several times a year.
A special service project is the craft group which meets every Tuesday.
Participation in UMW provides opportunity for service, spiritual growth, and fellowship. The principal fund raisers for UMW are the bazaar held in the fall and a luncheon held in the spring.

The UMW supports the Lucille Raines Home in Indianapolis, a residence which houses up to 50 people at a time. The residents come from detoxification centers, hospitals and/or institutions. The Methodist Women also aids the youth service project which provides scholarships to the Northern Indiana Conference Youth and Young Adults. This organization helps young people experience missions by participating in approved travel for seminars, work camps and study projects in the United States or abroad. The UMW also contributes to the School of Christian Mission held each summer. This is done through the unit assessment per member.
Any woman in the church is invited to attend these meetings and become a member. UMW is a unit group associated with the district and the conference.
Are you busy with needlework projects—sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting?? Please keep the UMW Bazaar in mind. We will be setting up a booth just for needlework this year rather than combining it with other craft items. We are looking for a variety of items to sell. What might you be able to supply?
We offer baked goods, candy, craft and needlework items, jewelry and gift items. A luncheon will be available from 11 to 1. A resale shop (no clothing or large furniture) is a popular part of our annual bazaar.
