We go into the Community
First Church views community involvement as its calling and responsibility. We believe Methodists should be "doers of the Word". Our members:
- were instrumental in establishing the Anti-violence Campaign in the city of Hammond.
- prepare meals for the homeless.
- help support and administer Northwest Family Services.
- monthly provide food for the Northwest Family Services food pantry.
- are active in the Partners in Education program with the city of Hammond.
- generously support the Angel Tree Program.
- provide support for various local organizations through our 2nd Mile Giving project.
- Check our Missions page for additional information
Children's Theatre Camp
The Genesius Guild provided a children's summer camp which culminated with a drama production. The camp included classes in acting, make up, costume and general production. In the workshop the children learned how to present a play and then actually put on two gratis performances about a month later.
